Understanding Accounts, Depositors, and Depositor Users
Three concepts drive how access and allocation work across the NBID Admin Portal. An account is an Insured Sweep Account opened at your institution. A depositor is the beneficial owner(s) of those funds, typically an individual, organization, or the co-owners of an account. The depositor, not the account, drives allocation treatment. A depositor user is a person who logs in to the Depositor Portal on behalf of the depositor to view and manage their account(s).
These relationships are flexible in every direction:
| Scenario | Relationship | How to Set Up |
|---|---|---|
| Joint Account | One account with two depositors | Sweep Program: Add depositors during Account Opening and in the Edit Account workflow |
| Multiple Accounts | One depositor with multiple accounts | Sweep Program: select the existing depositor when opening each additional account in Account Opening |
| Organization | One depositor with multiple users | Sweep Program:select a single depositor when opening the account. Add additional users to the depositor during depositor creation or through the User Management tool |
| Business + Personal | One user with multiple depositors | Invite the same email for each depositor; one login gains access to all accounts associated with each depositor |
